Why Strength Train?


We love when members join who are already fit and active, but want to be even better!

We love when members join who want to future-proof their bodies! If you want to be a fit, strong and independent 80 or 90 old, it starts with being fit, strong and healthy in your 50's, 60's and 70's.

The earlier you can start exercising and strength training the better. More muscle, more bone, better balance, better mobility. Our members are playing better golf, running faster Park Runs, keeping up with their kids and grandkids. The longer you train - the more you gain. Why Maintaining Your Strength Matters After 55

 

Remember - there are two main halves to exercise. Aerobic exercise is hugely important for your heart and your lungs, for burning calories and for our headspace and wellness.

But resistance training is paramount for maintaining and improving muscle mass, muscle strength and bone mineral density.

Unfortunately walking, tennis and golf alone will not prevent the loss of muscle and strength as we age. That is why it is so important that we tick both boxes when it comes to exercise. You can be Fit but not Strong. Ensure that you are maximising both, if you aren't, the best time to start is right now!
